Blogging

In 2011, Ian discovered the joys of blogging. Up until then it seemed amateurish, but technology (as it does) had improved and professional-looking blogs were possible.

His first blog was about his Multiple Sclerosis (www.MyMS.com.au).  This was initially set up to demystify MS for family and friends.  From the ‘pages’ on MS, it moved to posts – jokes, observations and really, just a diary, which became quite therapeutic.

Using the same template, Ian then set up a blog called The Pacific Insider – a place to share up-to-date information, news and gossip from the Pacific (www.PacificInsider.com).  Apart from the information, this allowed for immediate updating of specials/deals for the travelling public.

The next blog off the rank was South Pacific Weddings – an interactive website that allowed immediate updating as well as the ability to host mini-websites for couples who planned to marry in the Pacific and/or a gallery for those who had married there – www.SouthPacificWeddings.com.au.

From there it kinda snowballed – lots of static websites were then converted using WordPress – www.SmallGuideTravel.com.au, www.ResortWeddings.com.au, www.TropicalHoneymoons.com.au, www.HoneymoonVanuatu.com, www.HoneymoonPacific.com, www.WeddingsVanuatu.com, www.CruiseVanuatu.com, www.PacificCruising.com.au, www.GoVanuatu.com, www.VanuatuAtoZ.com, www.FijiAtoZ.com, www.SamoaAtoZ.com, www.CookIslandsAtoZ.com and www.FunctioningDrunk.com.au.  Oh, and this wee site, too.

There are also a few disability travel sites/blogs – www.CaneandAble.com.au, www.CairnsDisabledTravel.com, www.CanberraDisabledtravel.com, www.DisabilityCruising.com and www.TravelWithoutBarriers.com.au

And I now do daily blog posts for the Rydges hotel chain – some 33 individual hotels and resorts as well as the main blog here – http://www.rydges.com/social-hub.
